Nitocote ET402: A Solvent-Free Epoxy Coating with Coal Tar Pitch
Nitocote ET402 is a two-pack epoxy coating that is based on solvent-free epoxy resins modified with coal tar pitch. It is supplied in pre-weighed quantities ready for on-site mixing and use. Nitocote ET402 has many advantages, such as:
High build, single coat application
Good chemical resistance
Primerless
Excellent hold-out on vertical surfaces
Moderate flexibility
Nitocote ET402 is applied as a two coat application, with a wet film thickness of 200 micron per coat. It can be applied at greater thicknesses to suit exposure conditions. Nitocote ET402 is also available in marine grade for applications necessitating biocidal and micro-biostatic effect.
Nitocote ET402 is suitable for use in various environments, such as:
Water and wastewater treatment plants
Pipelines and storage tanks
Marine structures and offshore platforms
Industrial and chemical plants
Bridges and tunnels
Nitocote ET402 is a product of Fosroc International Limited, a leading manufacturer of construction products and building solutions. Fosroc has over 80 years of experience in providing innovative solutions for various sectors, such as concrete technology, waterproofing, sealants, flooring, grouts and anchors, repair and remediation, and protective coatings.

To apply Nitocote ET402, you need to mix the two components (base and hardener) thoroughly until a uniform colour is achieved. The mixing ratio is 4:1 by weight or volume. The pot life of the mixed material is about 40 minutes at 25ÂC. Do not mix more material than can be used within this time.
Nitocote ET402 can be applied by brush, roller or airless spray. The minimum recommended wet film thickness per coat is 200 micron. The second coat should be applied after the first coat has become tack-free, which is normally 6 to 8 hours at 25ÂC. The maximum recoating interval is 48 hours at 25ÂC. If this interval is exceeded, the surface should be abraded before applying the next coat.
Nitocote ET402 should not be applied at temperatures below 10ÂC or above 40ÂC. The relative humidity should not exceed 85%. The substrate temperature should be at least 3ÂC above the dew point to avoid condensation.
Nitocote ET402 will cure to a hard and glossy finish within 7 days at 25ÂC. The cured coating will have excellent adhesion to concrete and steel substrates, as well as good resistance to abrasion, impact and chemical attack. 061ffe29dd
